Colourstrings Kindergarten Musicianship classes
These develop pitch and rhythm in very young children before they start to learn an instrument at the approximate age of 5 years.
During the first year, 0-1 year, the babies will not be conscious of the lessons but by taking part with their carers, the experiences are absorbed and the relationship with their carers will be enhanced. I have enjoyed watching these babies become engaged in the classes after a very short time.
The classes are multisensory with beautiful pictures to accompany the songs, movement and actions to accompany the words and a soft lycra sheet as well as a sheepskin rug to feel for different parts of the class.
Some babies are known to sing before they can talk! They gradually join in with the actions and later on, the singing.
The songs are pentatonic and this means that they have been composed with children in mind, introducing simple concepts before the more complex ones.
By the time they are ready to begin a musical instrument, they will have a good grasp of pitch and rhythm as well some expressive elements of music which will aid their progress considerably.
This is a new venture for 2023, with classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Please see more information on the Teaching page of Education. Click here Teaching
